Types of Tolerance Stack-Up

Not all stack-ups are just simple dimension addition.

 There are 2 main types:

1. Linear Stack-Up
   • 1D chain of dimensions
   • Example: shaft length vs housing depth
2. Geometric Stack-Up (GD&T)
   • Includes form, orientation, position
   • Example: perpendicularity affecting fit
